Statement

An aesthetic of contingency shapes my work. Although figure compositions are grounded in realism, they inhabit ambiguous zones beyond the logical or familiar. Spattered and poured paint weave random "noise" into representational elements, disrupting expectations and engaging dynamic tension between control and accident, text and subtext, narrative order and chaos. The more unpredictable the forces at play, the more abundant the possibilities.
